Abrazo House is located in a small village in the Aras Valley, Cantabria, on the north coast of Spain between Santander and Bilbao: an area of great natural beauty including spectacular mountains, wetlands, beaches and woodlands.
Our facilities include several buildings, all built mainly with volunteer labour and recycled and natural materials:
The rest of our 2-acre (0.8 ha) site is in the process of conversion from pasture to a diverse, productive edible landscape.
Abrazo House enjoys a temperate maritime climate. We are at 43 degrees North, only 10km from the Atlantic Ocean and 140m above sea level. It rarely freezes in winter, and rain is plentiful all year round.
